GeoTools V8 Tutorials:

Here is something that most of you probably did not know existed or never bothered to check out. We have realized that many of you are not aware so here is an official announcement introducing our 11-part GeoTools V8 Tutorial.

The 11 lessons in the GeoTools tutorial is intended to take you through various GeoTools commands and show you how these can be used to perform many common AutoCAD operations that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. These tutorials are written with easily understandable point-by-point steps accompanied by illustrations, figures and screen-shots to make the entire process easy to follow.

The GeoTools tutorials are part of the GeoTools installation and can be found in the TUTORIALS sub-folder within the GeoTools installation folder.

Double-click on the GeoTools_Tutorial.CHM file to get started. Each lesson uses its own drawing which is also included in the same folder.

In the latest version (8.14) of GeoTools, we have added two new tutorials. So, you may please download the latest version from our web-site and check them out now.

The GeoTools tutorial has a total of 11 lessons to help you to use GeoTools commands effectively in your work and understand its full potential. Some of the lessons cover a specific category of tool and tell you all about using the commands belonging to that category. Other lessons cover a simple design task and take you through a small design process, thereby covering all the tools that this design task requires requires.

You can work through these lessons sequentially, or you can work on one lesson at a time. Every lesson, with the exception of the first one, has a tutorial drawing and an accompanying dataset.

The beginning of each lesson guides you through the process of selecting the appropriate GeoTools tutorial drawing. as well as loading the appropriate menu, if necessary. You are then ready to work your way through the lesson. You may position the tutorial window anywhere on your desktop that is convenient for you. It will stay on top as you work with AutoCAD Land Development Desktop.

You may stop your tutorial work midway and return to it later in which you will need to save your drawing. For the benefit of other users or if you wish to revert back to the original drawing, it is recommended that you do not save into the existing original tutorial drawings. Instead, you are advised to work on a copy of the tutorial drawings in another folder and leave the original intact.

** Enhanced commands:

GT_PL_DATALBL (Annotation Tools - Label polylines with object / database-linked data): The GT_PL_DATALBL command now accepts multiple objects for annotation in addition to individual single picked annotations. If the 'multiple' option is chosen, all the objects will be annotated at their curve mid points and you will not be prompted to pick the annotation point for each object. This option helps annotate multiple objects at once without having to pick each one of them.

** Bugs fixed

Some minor bugs have been fixed in dialog box selection processes.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Important note: While all of GeoTools commands are tested quite extensively before they are released, it is humanly impossible to test-run it under every different data type or operating environment. In the event that you notice any GeoTools command not functioning as expected, please bring it to our notice as soon as possible. We will attend to it and fix the problem as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support. As always, we welcome feedback at all times.
