New command added: GT_FLATTEN (Flatten - Convert to 0.0 elevation): Under Conversion Tools and Miscellaneous Tools, a new command has been added to flatten 3d objects to an elevation of 0.0. This command uses a generic flattening algorithm that changes the elevation of all selected objects to 0.0

Bug Fix: GT_FLIP ( Polyline Tool Set 1 - Flip (reverse) polylines) : A bug has been fixed in this command. It will now flip polylines with non-zero elevations correctly.

Enhanced command: GT_BREAKX (Polyline Tool Set 1 - Break crossing objects at ends): This command will now retain both extended entity and object table data in the broken part. The earler version would retain the extended entity data but not object table data.

Enhanced command: GT_P2BLKSHP ( Conversion Tools - Convert points to Blocks/Shapes) : This command now allows you to set the rotation angle and scale factor of the blocks or shapes within the GT_P2BLKSHP dialog itself. You no longer have to do so by modifying the GeoTools global settings. It is our medium to long-term goal in GeoTools to provide localized settings for common user parameters like Scale Factor, Text Size, Rotation and not depend on the global GeoTools settings.

Enhanced command: GT_DRAWGRADE ( Civil Tools - Draw graded polylines ) : The GT_DRAWGRADE command now has an option to specify the grade in terms of degrees (inclination) from the horizontal. In other words, you can now easily draw 3d polyline segments which are inclined at a specified angle from the XY plane. You can also place annotations based on degrees from horizontal, in addition to the existing options of Slope(%) and 1:n notations.

1. "GeoTools" user-group created in google groups.

Starting from December 1 2006, we have changed the delivery mechanism of the GeoTools newsletter.

Instead of emailing the newsletters to each one of our subscribers, we have instead created a new UserGroup in google groups called "GeoTools" and we will be sending you the news-letter through this google group.

As all of our current subscribers are receiving our newsletters via email, we will be add the names of existing subscribers into the GeoTools google group subscribers list. If any one of you do not want to be part of the GeoTools google group and want to continue to receive only direct emails from us, please write to us and we will remove your name from google group.

In terms of delivery format, you will notice no change and the newsletter emails will arrive into your email box as usual as has been happening now. If you click "Reply" on the message, you will, by default, be sending the reply to us only but if you enter the reply address as "", your message will be sent to the entire newsgroup and be read by all other subscribers. This is an excellent opportunity to interact with other GeoTools users and share ideas etc.
