Four Dimension Technologies offers its deepest sympathy and condolences to everyone effected by the catastrophic attacks on America on Tuesday, September 11. We are shocked and saddened by these horrific events, and extend our heartfelt prayers to the victims, their families, and the firefighters, police and volunteers involved in the rescue effort.

As we get back to our work, we have now released Version 2.2 of GeoTools. An update that should have been out much earlier but had to be held back due to some issues with programming resources.

GeoTools Version 2.2 is now available for download.

The following new commands have been added into GeoTools:

PFACE2PL - Convert polyface mesh to polylines:
The PFACE2PL command under the Conversion Tools allows polyface mesh objects to be converted to polylines. This has been added in some quickness as a result of one of our customer requests. I apologize in advance if there are any bugs still lurking. Please do not hesitate to inform me about it and we will gladly fix it up.

CENTLINE - Draw road center-lines from Rights-Of-Way:
The CENTLINE command is used to create road center lines from Rights-Of-Ways (ROW). This command adopts a zig-za g method of digitizing to create road centerlines. The user picks points in a zig-zag fashion across the right-of-way causing the
right-of-way to intersect at two points. The mid-point of the segment intersected by the right-of-way is taken as the road center line point and the line joining a series of such centerline points forms the centerline. This command offers numerous other techniques and options to have a better control of the road being digitized.

MVOFFSET - Multiple variable polyline segment offset:
The MVOFFSET command allows individual polyline segments to be offsetted by different user-specified distances. One of the places where this command can be useful is in designing lots where each side needs to be offset by differing amounts to satisfy the frontage, clearance and other requirements. Once each segment has been offsetted, they can then be trimmed, extended of filleted as your need may be. A later release of GeoTools will have the capability to perform this automatic join and cleanup operation.

Thank you for your continued support. As always, we welcome feedback at all times.
