Introduction

Welcome to the GeoTools tutorial.

This tutorial has a total of 14 lessons to help you to use GeoTools commands effectively in your work and understand its full potential. Some of the lessons cover a specific category of tool and tell you all about using the commands belonging to that category. Other lessons cover a simple design task and take you through a small design process, thereby covering all the tools that this design task requires requires.

You can work through these lessons sequentially, or you can work on one lesson at a time. Every lesson, with the exception of the first one, has a tutorial drawing and an accompanying dataset. 

The beginning of each lesson guides you through the process of selecting the appropriate GeoTools tutorial drawing.  as well as loading the appropriate menu, if necessary. You are then ready to work your way through the lesson. You may position the tutorial window anywhere on your desktop that is convenient for you. It will stay on top as you work with AutoCAD / Bricscad.

You may stop your tutorial work midway and return to it later in which you will need to save your drawing. For the benefit of other users or if you wish to revert back to the original drawing, it is recommended that you do not save into the existing original tutorial drawings. Instead, you are advised to work on a copy of the tutorial drawings in another folder and leave the original intact.

Lesson 1 - Polyline and Annotation Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize polyline tools for converting the polyline from 2D to 3D and assigning 'Z ' values to it.

Lesson 2 - Polyline Editing and Civil Chainage Tools
In this lesson we cover how to edit polylines and annotate them.

Lesson 3 - Block and Conversion Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the block tools for representing Lots and marking there centroid.

Lesson 4 - Text Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the text tools for editing and modifying the text in the drawing.

Lesson 5 - Inquiry Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the Inquiry tools for finding out the details of the Lots.

Lesson 6 - Annotation Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the Annotation tools for Annotating the polylines.

Lesson 7 - AutoCAD Map and Xdata Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the AutoCAD Map and Extended entity data tools for working with Object data and Xdata.

Lesson 8 - Conversion Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the frequently required conversion tools in road development. 

Lesson 9 - Build Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the Build tools used for road development and Frontage Clearance.

Lesson 10 - Polyline, Block and Text Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the Polyline, Block and text tools for working with block attributes.

Lesson 11 - AutoCAD Map Tools
In this lesson we cover how to utilize some of the AutoCAD Map Tools on Object Table Data.

Lesson 12 - Block Tools for Exporting and Editing Attributes
This tutorial covers how to utilize some of Block tools for Exporting (extracting) and editing block attributes.

Lesson 13 - Polyline, Cleanup and Build Tools to work on 3D Polylines
This tutorial covers how to utilize some of polyline tools to work on 3D Polylines.

Lesson 14 - Block / Attributes Editing and Modifying Tools
This tutorial covers how to utilize some of GeoTools Block / Attribute tools to edit, modify the block attributes.
