This tutorial covers some of the GeoTools Text
tools
used for editing and modifying the text in the drawing.
1. Open the drawing named lesson4.dwg
which is located in your GeoTools Tutorials folder. This folder is
located in the folder where you have installed GeoTools.
2. You should see a drawing of a Sub-Division layout as shown in (Image 5-1).

3. The layout drawing shows number of Lots and
each Lot is given a unique number but the numbering appears upside down which is
difficult to read, so we will see how to rotate all the numbered text in one
shot so that it becomes easy to read.
Rotating all
numbered text in the drawing
1. Click on menu GeoTools => Text =>
Globally Modify
Text/Mtext or type GT_MODTXT at the command prompt.

2. This will pop-up a dialog box as show below in (Image
5-3). Under Enter Value for selected property specify 180

3. Under Property to modify choose the
option Relative Rotate (degrees) as shown in above (Image
5-3) and click on OK button this will pop-up Standard Selection
dialog
box as shown below in (Image 4-3D).

4. Click on button Scan entire drawing for selecting all the text
in drawing. Then click on button Apply for rotating the text. The
result will be as shown below in (Image 5-4).

After learning how to rotate multiple text in the drawing in one shot. Our next process
will be to prefix the numbering with text "Lot#".
Prefixing the numbering with text
"LOT#"
1.Click on menu GeoTools => Text =>
Globally Modify
Text/Mtext or type GT_MODTXT at the command prompt.
2. This will pop-up a dialog box as show below in (Image 5-5). Under Enter
Value for selected property specify Lot#

3. Choose the options as shown in above (Image 5-5) and click on OK.
This will pop-up Standard Selection dialog box as shown below in (Image 4-3D)

4. Click on the button Scan entire drawing
for selecting all the text in drawing. And then finally click on Apply
button for prefixing Lot# before the lot numbers
as shown below in the (Image 5-6)

After learning how to prefix the numbers with text "Lot#",
we will see editing text by bringing up in a text editor.
Editing the text in the drawing by bringing up in text editor (Notepad)
1. Click on menu GeoTools => Text =>
Global Multiple Text Editor or
type GT_TXTEDIT at the command prompt.
2. This will pop-up the Standard selection dialog box as shown below in (Image
4-3D).

3.Click on the button Scan entire
drawing for selecting entire text in drawing. Then click on button Apply
This will bring up the entire text in Notepad as shown below in
(Image 5-7).

4. Now you can edit the current text or add any new text or number to it, lets
add names of the owners for some of the lots at the end of Lot numbers.
5. Add the names to the lots as shown below in the (Image 5-8).

6. Save and close Notepad. And you will
see the names you added are updated in the drawing file as shown below in
(Image 5-9)
